Booth is a photobooth that runs on the iPhone or iPad you already own. You design the print — format, template, wording, logo, look — then take the booth live on a six-character code. Guests join from their own phones, shoot, and leave with a strip. There's no hardware to rent and no attendant behind a tripod.

An iPhone or iPad with the Booth app and an internet connection — Wi-Fi or cellular. A phone stand and a soft light help. A printer is optional: every print Booth saves is a print-ready file you can send to an AirPrint printer. A booth with nothing but the phone in your hand still works.

Designing the print, going live for one or three hours, the guest camera, the photo wall, four film cameras and twenty-three looks are all free. Booth Pro is for bigger nights: booths up to twelve hours, six graded film LUTs, eleven more cameras, live video strips, overnight develop, and a print with no Booth mark. Guests never pay.

A few minutes. Open Design Your Booth and work along the dock at the bottom: Format (the shape of the print), Templates, Elements (your wording and logo), Look, Paper, Booth, Capture and Live. Every one has a default that already works, so you can go live on the format alone and keep designing afterwards.

Yes. Look for the ? on any screen. It opens a short illustrated guide to that screen: the booth camera, Filter Lab, joining, the photo wall, moderation, My Events, your roll, and each tool in Design Your Booth. The ? on the home screen tours the whole app.

Settings live where you use them.

• The booth design — format, template, wording, logo, look, paper — is in Design Your Booth, on the dock along the bottom.
• How the booth shoots — countdown, time between shots, flash, auto-save, save originals and develop later — is under Capture in Design Your Booth.
• Booth name, venue, Studio cut-out, live video and Luma import are under Booth.
• Live hours, scheduling and the wall & sharing switches are under Live.
• On the booth screen, the two dials beside the shutter set the countdown and the pause between shots. The dial above the shutter picks the camera. The settings button at the top right turns Flash and Live on or off and picks the zoom lens.
• Your name and birthday are in My Profile — tap your profile circle on the home screen.
• Camera, Photos and notification permissions are in the iPhone's own Settings → Booth.
• Your Pro subscription is managed in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Everything that decides how the print looks and how the booth runs is saved with the design. That includes format, template, elements, look, paper, timers, flash, live hours and the wall switches. When you're signed in, the design is saved to your account and sent to every guest who joins.

A few settings belong to the phone, never the booth. Auto-save strips is one: each phone decides whether finished strips go to its camera roll. So are the permissions you grant in iOS Settings.

No. Guests shoot on your design as you set it. They can make a few choices about their own print. They can change its paper colour, and pick a different look unless you turn off Let guests pick their own filter. When they post to the wall, they choose whether their name shows, whether others can save it, and whether views are counted. Your wall switches set the limits for those choices.

Three ways, all leading to the same booth: scan the QR code on your invitation card, open the join link you shared, or type the six-character code into Join a Booth. Whichever they use, your design arrives on their phone — same format, same wording, same logo, same look.

Yes — the guest camera is the Booth app on their own iPhone. If someone opens your invite link without the app, the page sends them to the App Store and holds their code, so they can carry on the moment it installs. Anyone without an iPhone can still shoot on a device you leave on a stand.

Not to join or shoot — the code is enough, and a guest can shoot, save and share without signing up. Posting to the photo wall is different. It needs a quick sign-in, so each photo has an owner who can find it in My Wall Photos and delete it. It also needs a one-time confirmation that the guest is 18 or older.

Yes. Leave one device on a stand as the booth and let people shoot on that. Turning on Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility) locks the device to Booth so nobody can wander out of the app. Most events run both: a device on a stand and guests on their own phones.

The app sets no cap. Every guest shoots on their own phone and uploads their own photo, so a busy booth is lots of small uploads rather than one device doing all the work.

The code still opens, but the booth says it's closed and won't take new photos. If the wall's photos are still up, the guest can browse the wall and save what they're allowed to until it expires. A scheduled booth that hasn't opened yet shows when it opens instead.

Yes, and this part is worth reading twice. A live booth stays fully editable. Change the template, the wording, the logo, the look — anything — and it reaches every guest within seconds. The change applies to photos taken from then on.

It doesn't reach backwards. A strip that's already been shot is a finished picture and keeps the design it was made with. That includes anything already on the photo wall. If you want one consistent look all night, finish the design before you go live.

One or three hours on a free account, or up to twelve with Pro. That's the shooting window: when the timer runs out, the booth stops taking new photos. The photo wall runs on its own 24-hour clock (see What happens after 24 hours if we don't download the photos?).

Yes. Pick a time instead of going live now, and the booth opens on its own at that time. Our server opens it, so your phone can be closed, asleep, or somewhere else entirely. You get a notification when it opens.

New photos stop. Nothing already taken disappears at that moment. Strips saved to a camera roll are ordinary photos on that phone and stay there. Wall photos stay up for 24 hours so everyone has time to save them. The host is offered a save-everything download straight away and is reminded an hour before the photos expire.

Yes — open My Events, find the live booth and tap End Booth. Guests can't join or shoot after that. If the booth has a photo wall, it ends too, and you get 24 hours from that moment to download its photos. Ending a scheduled booth cancels its go-live.

You need an internet connection, and it can be cellular. Guests reach your booth over the internet, so venue Wi-Fi and 4G or 5G both work. If the Wi-Fi is unreliable, a phone hotspot is usually enough, because the traffic is finished photos, not a video stream. A device on a stand keeps shooting and saving either way.

The booth keeps going. It lives on our server, not on your phone, so guests who've joined keep shooting and posting until the timer runs out. New photos wait in your moderation queue. Nothing goes up on the wall until you approve it, so the wall pauses rather than filling with unchecked photos.

Sign back in on any device and Booth reconnects you to your live booth and its wall, with the queue waiting.

The photo wall is deleted. Here's exactly what that means:

• Wall photos are deleted 24 hours after the wall opens. If the host ends the wall, it's 24 hours after that instead. This covers the photos, the web link and any guest's access to the wall.
• Photos still waiting for approval at that point are deleted too.
• Approved photos are backed up first. Before deleting, Booth privately archives the wall's approved photos. The host can ask for them from My Events → Photos backed up. Pro includes your first two requests; after that, each event has a service charge (see the Terms).
• Anything already on a phone stays. Strips in someone's camera roll are ordinary photos and are never touched. Auto-save is on by default, so most guests already have their own strips.

Booth sends a reminder an hour before the wall expires, with a button that saves every photo at once.

Each shot is taken at the camera's full photo resolution — typically 12 megapixels on a recent iPhone. It's cropped into its cell and composed into the print. The print is saved at 600 dpi:

• 2×6 strip: 1200 × 3600 px
• 6×2 sideways strip: 3600 × 1200 px
• 4×6 card: 2400 × 3600 px
• 6×4 landscape: 3600 × 2400 px

That's double what a photo printer needs, so prints stay sharp. Copies sent to the wall or by email are 300 dpi JPEGs, full print size for the screen. With Pro, Save originals also keeps every uncropped shot in your camera roll.

With Live on, the booth records a short clip with every shot. The finished print becomes a looping video in the same design. It's saved as an H.264 MP4 at 30 frames a second, each photo looping for up to three seconds. The video is the size of the print at 300 dpi: 600 × 1800 for a 2×6 strip, 1200 × 1800 for a 4×6 card. Clips are silent — Booth never asks for the microphone. Live video strips are part of Pro.

No. The cameras on the dial — the device camera, the disposable, the instant, the rangefinders — change how a photo looks, never how much detail it has. Every body uses the same capture, at the same full resolution. The camera adds marks of film over your look: bloom, flash falloff, grain, a date stamp.

What can change the detail is the lens. The back cameras are usually sharper and better in low light than the selfie camera, and zooming in crops the frame. Flip cameras and pick zoom from the booth screen.

The look is the colour grade — golden, mono, faded, and so on — and it's what every photo prints with. Try looks live in Filter Lab by swiping across the camera. The camera is laid on top of the look. It adds what shooting on that camera would leave behind: bloom, flash falloff, grain, a date stamp. Pick a look for the room and a camera for the feel.

Straight to your camera roll. Auto-save strips is on by default, so every finished print — and its video, when Live is on — lands in Photos the moment it's made. Turn it off under Capture and only prints you tap Save on are kept. Save as many times as you like: try another look, then save again. Nothing leaves your phone unless you send it to the wall, share it or email it.

With Pro, yes. Turn on Save originals under Capture and every uncropped shot goes to your camera roll alongside the finished print. Without it, Booth saves only the finished print.

A shared feed of the night. A guest sends their strip to the wall, you approve or reject it, and approved photos land on a live wall. You can show it on a phone, cast it to a TV, or share it as a web link. It's the part of the booth everybody stands around.

No. A guest chooses whether to send a strip to the wall at all, and nothing appears until you approve it in the Moderation Queue. An automatic safety scan helps sort the queue and flags anything sensitive. Block this guest stops a phone from sending anything more to your wall.

Because a posted photo is a finished image, not a live preview. The photos, template, wording, logo and look were flattened into one picture when it was taken, and that picture is what was uploaded. Redrawing it later would change something a guest has already seen, saved and shared. So edits apply going forward: every photo taken after the change uses the new design, and everything already on the wall stays as it was.

They're under Live in Design Your Booth, and they set the limits for the whole event:

• Show guest names on the wall — lets names appear. A guest can still post without theirs.
• Let guests save each other's photos — adds a save button to wall photos. A guest can still lock their own.
• Show view & save counts — each guest sees how many people viewed and saved their own photos. Nobody sees anyone else's numbers.
• Share the wall with guests — lets guests who joined browse the wall on their own phones, read-only.
• Let guests pick their own filter — turn it off to keep every print in your look.
• Offer "send it just to me" — gives guests a private email option instead of the wall.

Yes. My Wall Photos shows everything a guest has sent to that wall and where each photo is: awaiting the host, on the wall, or not shown. Deleting one pulls it off the wall for everyone and removes it from storage. It can't be undone.

It emails the finished strip, full quality, straight to the guest — and it never goes on the wall. It's there for guests who want their photo without being up on a screen. Hosts can switch the option off under Live.

Posting to a shared wall needs a one-time confirmation that you're 18 or older, checked on our server. Shooting, saving and sharing your own strip don't.

Yes. From Project on a Wall:

• Show the Wall plays it on the phone itself — plug that into a screen with an HDMI adapter.
• Stream Live casts it to an Apple TV or AirPlay TV, and keeps updating as you approve photos while your phone stays free.
• You can also open the 24-hour web link in any browser, such as a laptop connected to the venue projector.

Booth makes print-ready files. Save puts a 600 dpi copy of the print, sized to its format, in Photos. From there, print it on any AirPrint printer — tap Share → Print. A Canon SELPHY is the usual choice at events: it's small, and prints a 4×6 in about a minute. You can't print straight from the booth screen yet.

Four shapes: the classic 2×6 photo strip, a 6×2 sideways strip, a 6×4 landscape print and a 4×6 portrait card. Each has several layouts with one to four photos. The format decides how many shots the booth takes. The canvas rebuilds as you switch, so you see what each one does to your design before you commit.

Any guest can print the strip saved to their phone on an AirPrint printer they can reach. Booth doesn't send guests' photos to a shared printer. At most events, the host keeps one printer beside the booth device and guests save and share digitally.

Yes. Add your logo and wording under Elements, pick the fonts, and choose the paper colour. With Pro, you can lay the whole print on a picture of your own. Pro also adds a background remover for logos: tap a colour and it lifts out, so a logo with a white box around it sits cleanly on a coloured print.

Yes, in Free mode. The element editor has two modes:

• Grid snaps wording, logos, dates and stickers into the white space around the photos, so nothing covers a face even after you change format.
• Free lets you place, resize and rotate anything anywhere, photos included.

Grid is tidy; Free is yours.

Studio cut-out lifts guests off whatever room they're standing in and puts them on a backdrop you choose. Add sponsor logos and Booth builds a step-and-repeat wall behind everyone. Turn it on under Booth in Design Your Booth.

Yes. Under Booth, paste your lu.ma event link. Booth fills in the event name, date, venue and logo as elements on the print, and you can move or restyle them like any others.

Yes, a small boothco.app mark. You can move and restyle it but not remove it. Pro removes it.

Yes, when you're signed in. Your booth design is saved to your account, not the device, so the iPad on the stand and the phone in your pocket are designing the same booth. The most recent edit wins.

The guest who took them, and — only if that guest sends them — the host who moderates the wall. Once the host approves a photo, everyone viewing the wall can see it. Taking a photo doesn't publish it anywhere.

Wall photos are deleted 24 hours after the wall opens, or 24 hours after the host ends it. Before that, approved photos are archived privately so the host can request them later. Only the host who ran the event can request them. Strips saved to a phone are on that phone and aren't ours to delete. Full details are in the privacy policy.

In the app, tap your profile circle on the home screen, then Delete My Account. This deletes your account and the booths, rolls and walls you've hosted, and it can't be undone. It doesn't touch photos guests have already saved to their own phones.

Booths up to twelve hours; six graded film LUT looks on top of the free twenty-three; eleven more cameras; fine-tuning any look in Filter Lab; an editing tray on the finished strip; live video strips; overnight develop; image as paper; the logo background remover; originals saved to your camera roll; your first two photo retrievals; and a print with no Booth mark. Per account. Subscribe once and every booth you host after that is a Pro booth. Guests never pay.

A Pro mode that holds the night back. Guests shoot as normal but see only a blurred print. Each photo develops at its own random time the next day, within the host's window, and the guest is emailed when it's ready. Until then it waits in Your Roll with a countdown. No peeking, and no re-shooting for a better one.

If the 24 hours pass before you've saved a wall, the approved photos aren't lost. Booth archives them privately first. In My Events, an event showing Photos backed up can be requested, and the photos are sent to you by email. Pro includes your first two requests. Otherwise there's a service charge per event, set out in the Terms.

iPhone and iPad. The booth works on an iPad on a stand and on guests' iPhones at the same time, and the design canvas is the same on both.

The guest's phone builds the finished print itself: photos, template, elements and look, flattened into one image. It uploads only that image, which is safety-checked and lands in your moderation queue. When you approve it, it goes up on the live wall and on every screen showing it. The raw shots never leave the guest's phone.

The phone keeps shooting and saving, because none of that needs the network. The shared parts pause: guests joining, wall uploads, and design changes reaching phones already in the booth. They all resume when the connection comes back.

Yes. Make from Camera Roll builds a print from photos and videos you already have, in the same formats and looks as a live booth. Tap a cell to add a photo, pinch and drag to frame it, and drag a photo's handle to swap it with another cell. At a live event, prints made with the event's template can go on its wall.

No. While a booth is live, its code belongs to that booth alone, so every guest who types it lands in the same place.
